Victorian Fury player Kasey Stanaway will be at QV Melbourne tomorrow for the unveiling of a very special art installation, marking the Cancer Councils 25th Anniversary of Daffodil Day.
Renowned 3D chalk artist Clark Smith has this week turned the walls of Artemis Lane outside one of the citys busiest florists, Flower Temple at QV Melbourne, into a dazzling three-dimensional meadow of hope for cancer to mark Daffodil Day (Friday, August 26). Daffodil Day is an annual Cancer Council charity event that raises money for cancer research, prevention programs and support services.
Smith, an award-winning artist dubbed the Laneway Michelangelo for his stunning chalk murals, began work on the YELLOW INSTALLATION piece outside Flower Temple at QV Melbourne on Tuesday, August 23.
YELLOW INSTALLATION will be unveiled to the media on Thursday, August 25 just in time to mark the 25th anniversary of Daffodil Day in Australia on Friday, August 26. The Cancer Council hopes to raise $9 million this year.
Once complete, YELLOW INSTALLATION will be on show at Flower Temple in Artemis Lane every day until Sunday, August 28. The installation, which promises an optical illusion to boggle both the eye and the mind like those seen in cities overseas, is free to see and to photograph. Those wishing to step inside the 3D image for a photograph can make a gold coin donation to the Cancer Council while RMIT photography students hone their skills and send you the photograph.
Flower Temple will sell charity merchandise in support of Daffodil Day and will also donate a gold coin to the Cancer Council for every cup of coffee purchased at its in-house caf between August 22-26, 2011.
Flower Temple is at 18-22 Artemis Lane, QV Melbourne. For more information, call 03 9663 3022 or visit www.flowertemple.com.au
