Vixens goaler Tegan Caldwell is recovering well after undergoing surgery on her right ankle on Wednesday.
Caldwell required surgery after she rolled her ankle against the Northern Mystics in the eighth round of the ANZ Championships.
“I had a scope and an ankle reconstruction, I have very flexible ankles and tend to roll them a bit but my right ankle hadn’t quite healed as well as other times. I had to nurse it closely for the rest of the season so being able to have a break has allowed me to get it fixed and hopefully I won’t have any problems with it in the future,” Caldwell said.
She is confident that she will be back running in two to three months and on the netball court between three to four months.
“Having the operation now allows me to have a really good recovery and still have a solid preseason, ready for 2013. I can’t wait to start running again,” Caldwell said.
Caldwell will fulfil an existing contract with the Vixens next season and said ‘it is a privilege to be able to play in the state where I was born and grew up.’
“I am very excited to be playing with the Vixens for another season. I look forward to seeing who the new coach will be and what they can bring. There are lots of changes happening in 2013 and I can’t wait for the new adventure,” Caldwell said.
