Vixens v Fever, Challenge Stadium - Sunday 17th May
The Melbourne Vixens will be looking to keep their unbeaten start to 2009 alive this Sunday, when they travel to Perth to take on the West Coast Fever at Challenge Stadium. The teams last met in Round 1 where the Vixens came away with a dominating 57-44 victory in Melbourne. The Vixens started slowly, with the Fever taking a norrow two goal lead into quarter-time. Lead by co-captain Sharelle McMahon, the Vixens dominated the remaining three quarters to come away with an impressive season-opening victory.
Since then the young Fever have turned out some impressive performances, including a thrilling one goal win in overtime against the NSW Swifts, and are currently sitting sixth on the ANZ Championship ladder. The Vixens on the other hand have continued their impressive start to the season, and after a bye last week, they`ll be refreshed and looking to secure their sixth win in as many matches, to remain on top of the ANZ Championship ladder.
Ex-Vixens Madison Browne and Johanna Curran, along with the rest of the Fever team, will be looking to spoil the Vixens perfect start to 2009, in front of their home crowd.
Will the Fever defence be able to control the domination of the Vixens` shooters McMahon and Thwaites? Catch all the action on Ten/ONE from 2:30pm this Sunday afternoon. Go Vixens!
