McMahon caps off a career best season
With the Vixens winning the 2009 ANZ Championship just last week, netball legend McMahon faced some strong competition, with the team dropping only one game all season before a convincing 54 - 46 Grand Final win over the Adelaide Thunderbirds. The depth of the Vixens outfit was showcased with a tie between Julie Corletto and Caitlin Thwaites for the title of Runner Up.
McMahon, who was also named Player of the Match for Sunday’s Grand Final, shared the podium at the Vixens Gala Awards with co-captain Bianca Chatfield (Player of the Finals) and teammates Chelsey Nash (Rookie of the Year) and Renae Hallinan (Coaches’ Award). Once again, major sponsor Prestige Sunroofs made a special presentation of a Vixens branded Holden Cruze, this time to Hallinan for her Excellence in Sport and Life Award.
For the second year running, Vixens Team Manager Bree McDonald was named Best Club Person for her industrious efforts behind the scenes.
The Netball Victoria Gala Awards Night, celebrating the Melbourne Vixens and the state Holden Cruze Cup Competition, was held at Peninsula C in Docklands on Friday 31st August.
